Breaking: Kepa Arrizabalaga Returns to Chelsea After Failed Napoli Medical

Chelsea Goalkeeper Kepa Arrives at A.F.C. Bournemouth on Loan

Blues Shot Stopper Joins Cherries Until End of Season

Kepa Arrizabalaga's proposed move to Serie A giants S.S.C. Napoli has fallen through after the goalkeeper failed a medical, paving the way for a loan move to A.F.C. Bournemouth until the end of the season.

The Spanish international, who joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for a then world record fee for a goalkeeper of €80 million, has struggled for form and playing time at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons.

Arrizabalaga's move to Napoli was seen as a chance for the 28-year-old to reignite his career, but the failed medical has put those plans on hold.

Instead, Arrizabalaga will now join Bournemouth, who are currently 19th in the Premier League standings, in a bid to help the Cherries avoid relegation.

The move to Bournemouth is a significant blow to Napoli, who were looking to Arrizabalaga to replace David Ospina, who left the club to join Real Madrid CF in the summer.

Arrizabalaga's arrival at Bournemouth could also have implications for current Cherries goalkeeper Mark Travers, who has been in impressive form for the club this season.

It remains to be seen whether Arrizabalaga will be able to rediscover his best form at Bournemouth, but the move to the south coast club gives him a chance to prove himself once again.
