Cruise Passengers Stranded in Belfast for Almost Three Months
Belatedly Rescued by P&O Ferry
Over 3,000 passengers aboard the Spirit of Discovery cruise ship were stranded in Belfast for almost three months due to mechanical issues.
The passengers were finally rescued by a P&O ferry on Monday, April 4, 2023, after spending nearly three months on the ship.
The Spirit of Discovery was originally scheduled to depart from Belfast on January 10, 2023, but was delayed due to technical problems.
The ship was eventually repaired and was able to set sail on February 21, 2023, but was forced to turn back to Belfast after just a few hours due to further mechanical problems.
The passengers were then stranded in Belfast for almost three months, with no way to get home.
The P&O ferry that finally rescued the passengers was the Pride of Hull, which arrived in Belfast on Monday, April 4, 2023.
The passengers were then able to disembark the Spirit of Discovery and board the Pride of Hull, which took them to Hull, England.
The passengers were relieved to finally be able to go home after almost three months of being stranded.
