- The Timberwolves defense clamped down in the fourth quarter. After allowing the Mavericks to shoot 50% from the field in the first three quarters, the Timberwolves held them to just 35% shooting in the fourth quarter.
- Russell hit some big shots down the stretch. Russell made a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one with just over two minutes remaining that gave the Timberwolves a 114-113 lead.
- The Timberwolves got some key contributions from their bench. Taurean Prince scored 10 points off the bench, and Jordan McLaughlin added nine points.
- The Timberwolves showed a lot of resilience. After falling behind by 15 points in the second half, the Timberwolves never gave up. They fought back to tie the game and eventually win it in the final seconds.
