Replacing Steve Cooper

Santo Signs Contract, Takes Reins of Premier League Club

Nottingham Forest has appointed Nuno EspĂrito Santo as their new manager, replacing the recently departed Steve Cooper. The appointment was confirmed on Wednesday, with Santo signing a contract to take charge of the Premier League club.

Santo, a former goalkeeper, has a wealth of experience in management. He previously led Wolverhampton Wanderers to promotion to the Premier League in 2018 and also guided the team to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League. He also had a brief stint at Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, but was dismissed after a poor run of results.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have been struggling in the Premier League this season, currently sitting in 19th place. They parted ways with Cooper earlier this month after a run of poor results, including a 4-0 defeat to Leicester City.

Santo will be tasked with turning around Forest's fortunes and keeping them in the Premier League. He will be assisted by Ian Cathro, who has joined as his assistant manager.

Commenting on his appointment, Santo said: "I am delighted to be joining Nottingham Forest. This is a great club with a rich history and tradition, and I am excited to be part of it. I believe in the potential of this team, and I am confident that we can achieve great things together."
